Starwave 9x50mm Finder Scope with Illuminated Reticule + 462M2 Guide Camera
Product information
Guide Scope Description
Starwave 50mm Guide Scope with a 1.25" rotating micro focuser, optical tube, rings, stalk, and universal finder bracket.
This is a quality all metal and glass finder scope to replace the cheaper plastic finders included with most telescopes these days. It has a fully multicoated cemented achromatic objective lens and quality eyepiece, delivering a much higher quality image, with better contrast for faint objects. The reticule is clearly visible, and much more precise than normal finder scopes. It also stays on target with metal alignment screws.
A 23mm 1.25" Illuminated Reticule Eyepiece is included, giving a magnification of 9x and an Apparent FOV of 55° (product code: 125-EP23-IR if ordered separately).
The focuser has a 1.25" ID push-fit adaptor with compression ring, allowing use of guide cameras, digital finders, or other 1.25" eyepieces.
A removable red LED illuminator is included with variable brightness, and the laser etched reticule can be focused.
The metal finder stalk is compatible with most finder scope brackets on the market, but also includes a universal finder bracket (product code UNIFBR), with a cross-slotted hole pattern to fit most telescopes.
Tips:
To attach the finder scope to dovetail bars, remove the stalk by means of the two set screws and use the two M5 holes to connect it up. You'll require two M5 nuts if you are connecting it to a dovetail bar with central slot.
Focal length to enter into PHD2 is 206.6mm (F4.1) for guiding purposes.
Camera Description
The Altair GPCAM3 462M Mono camera features extremely high red and NIR sensitivity for autoguiding.
High sensitivity in the far red regions make this camera suitable for use with red filters, which combat the effects of atmospheric seeing that affect guiding accuracy. The front 1.25" filter thread allows easy attachment of a red filter.
Autoguiding friendly form factor: No more struggling to gain focus. The extra long camera body allows the camera to be inserted further into 1.25" accessory ports on telescopes and accessories such as Off-Axis-Guiders (OAGs).
Reliable USB auto-guiding: The camera's USB2.0 format offers a stable low bandwidth data consumption, perfect for autoguiding.
Sony STARVIS BSI sensor: The full well capacity, high dynamic range, high sensitivity, and low readout noise are features of the latest Sony STARVIS BSI CMOS sensor technology. The camera is a good choice for video astronomy using the live stacking features in AltairCapture or SharpCap. Being particularly sensitive to red light, this camera is a great starter EAA or "Video Astronomy" camera, picking up the faint red light of nebulae emissions in the Hydrogen Alpha wavelength.
