Sky-Watcher Evostar 150EDX OTA

The Evostar-150ED apochromatic doublet refractor has received some exciting upgrades. We are pleased to introduce the new EVOSTAR-150EDX model,  which is the result of several very useful mechanical improvements. Presented in its stunning new white and green livery, the EVOSTAR-150EDX is a superb instrument for both imaging and visual use, with the necessary accessories.

The new EVOSTAR-150EDX model now includes a CNC machined rack & pinion focuser with 3” indexed focuser drawtube with a built-in 360° rotatable adaptor, a retractable dew shield and a top accessory rail which conveniently doubles as a carrying handle. There is also a pair of solid anodised aluminium tube rings and a 75mm dovetail bar supplied as standard.

Featuring the same great proprietary f/8 matched optics as the previous model, including one ED glass lens element which virtually eliminates chromatic aberration. An optional optically matched 0.77x Focal Reducer/Field Flattener (code 20333) is available for imaging.

The optics deliver tack-sharp stars with charcoal-black, contrast-rich skies. Each air-to-glass lens surface has exotic anti-reflection metallic coatings applied, to ensure optimum light throughput of approaching 99.5%!! The proprietary Sky-Watcher “Metallic High-Transmission Coatings” (MHTC) are the finest photon anti-rejection coatings in their class.

Apochromatic Refractors, due to their unobstructed, text-book like diffraction patterns, produce the sharpest, highest quality optical imaging available, bar-none, aperture for aperture, of any telescope optical system.

For a long time, Evostar-ED doublets have been the imaging refractors of choice for many astrophotographers due to the combination of their excellent imaging performance and affordability. Due to less glass in their construction, they are also usually much lighter weight and more convenient to handle than an equivalent aperture triplet or other multi-element ED refractor designs.
