Altair USB Motor Focus Bracket for 127 Mak Celestron Astromaster Skywatcher
Product information
Attaches your Altair AAF Motor Focuser to 127 Maksutov Telescopes such as Skywatcher, Celestron Astromaster and Orion.
In the box:
PETG Focuser Bracket and replacement geared focuser knob with 2x Small M3 countersunk screws, metal gear spindle and drive belt, 3x stainless steel M4 Allan Cap head bolts, and 3x nuts.
Assembly Instructions:
Please see the included images. Assembly is very easy and takes a minute. Use the instructional product photographs provided to assemble the unit. You will need a set of Allen Keys provided with the Altair AAF USB Motor Focuser:
1) First remove the rubber covering from the Mak 127 focuser knob. You can remove it by pulling it off the focuser knob which is easier in warm conditions as the rubber is more flexible. It helps to insert fingernail between the rubber cover and the focuser knob then peeling it back. Then replace it with the focuser belt drive knob provided and position it just so it doesn't rub on the telescope body. Then tighten the two small M3 Countersunk screws. The screws might be a little difficult to insert into the focuser belt drive knob but they will fit snugly. (See Figs 1.1 to 1.4).
2) Insert the M4 nuts into the corresponding pockets on the focuser mounting bracket parts and attach them to each other with the provided M4 screws. There is no need to overtighten anything. Leave the screw on the circular clamp slightly loose. (See Figs 2.1 and 2.2).
3) With figure 3.0 as a reference, fit the circular clamp over the rear push-fit adaptor on the telescope. (You will first need to remove the metal thumbscrews from the push-fit adaptor to fit the bracket over it). Push the bracket down firmly over the knurled ring at the base of the push-fit adaptor and and tighten the M4 screw to clamp it firmly. Note: If the knurled ring at the base of the push-fit adaptor is loose, tighten if before attaching the bracket, else it could rotate.
4) Attach the belt drive spindle included in the package to the focuser spindle. Leave around 0.5mm between the belt drive spindle and the USB focuser body so it doesn't rub. Attach the belt and using the two M4 screws provided with the USB focuser, attach the focuser to the mounting bracket as per Fig. 4.0.
5) Once the belt is in position you can tighten the two M4 screws, whilst pulling gently the USB focuser outwards to tension the belt a little. Then tighten the screws down. There is no need to over-tighten anything. That's it! You can use the hand controller provided with the USB focuser for coarse focus positioning, and your favourite astronomy capture software for fine auto focusing.
Please Note: This is a high quality professionally 3D printed product made to order, and can take about 2-3 days to make.
