The Altair TMS 100mm Guide Scope Rings have a unique lightweight design, with very high strength and rigidity for elimination of differential flex.
The Vixen-style dovetail clamp has a quick release lever with adjustable tension when tight, and the rings can be mounted on the underside by means of the 4x stainless steel M6 screws provided, allowing you to slide your guide scope back and forth for balancing. Removal and mounting is quick and easy.
Ring separation is 75mm. The rings will fit an 85mm outer diameter optical tube. *
The guide scope rings have 6x durable stainless steel M8 threaded rods, which will not corrode even after many years in the cold and damp (unlike budget blackened steel or chrome coated threads) and screws. The threads are slightly over-size so they cannot bind when tightened. The aluminium CNC machined knobs provide an easy grip with gloves.
The 6x heavy duty M8 stainless steel threads terminate in a special plastic no-scratch end cap, maintaining a rigid connection for auto-guiding, or even imaging with a heavy camera.
*However, by trimming the plastic anti-scratch guards by 5mm with a sharp blade, you can gain an additional 10mm of inner diameter, giving a total 95mm inner diameter. Ideal for Altair 60mm guide scopes and small refractors or solar scopes, PST and others.
