This kit saves you money on Altair TMS (Telescope Mounting System) products bought separately through less shipping, and a reduction in price per unit.
The Altair TMS Side-by-side package includes:
2x Altair Losmandy Saddle Plates (LSP) to go on each side.
Your choice of Losmandy Dovetail Plate on which to mount them at either end (choose your plate size in the dropdown menu below)
Centre-to-centre separation of two optical tubes side-by-side for each option, is as follows:
Losmandy 350mm = 300mm centre to centre separation
Losmandy 300mm = 240mm centre to centre separation
Losmandy 250mm = 190mm centre to centre separation
The TMS is very symmetrical to make it easier for you to choose the right setup. Vixen Bars and Losmandy Saddle Plates of the same length, have the same centre-to-centre separation when used in side-by-side mode, regardless of what saddle plate or clamp type you use.
For example, if you attach our Losmandy saddle plate on one side, and a Vixen clamp on the other side of a 300mm Losmandy Plate, the centre-to-centre OTA separation is 240mm.
Furthermore if you attach our Vixen clamp on both sides of a 300mm Vixen Bar, the centre-to-centre OTA separation is still 240mm.
How to choose what separation you need: This make things a lot easier to manage when choosing accessories. Just put your two telescopes side by side on a table, and move them next to each other with enough space between them as you judge it. Then measure the centre-to-centre distance of the optical tubes you require, and choose a corresponding Losmandy plate (or Vixen bar).
